Winter seems to be a challenging time for these Mulga Parrots to find some food. Having to climb up a very prickly bush (called the porcupine bush) to get some seeds is quite a desperate feat. When the southerly winds finally mellow the lake sediment drops out and the water becomes crystal clear. The lake is very beguiling on these days and a walk or swim is in order.
