Embark on a thrilling wildlife journey with Sapphire Nature Tours exploring the untouched beauty and wildlife of the northern rainforests of Australia. Led by experienced guide Sam, we will be seeking out encounters with wary cassowaries, divine sunbirds, screeching catbirds, tree climbing kangaroos, playful platypus and more.
The tour is designed to give you the time to properly immerse yourself in the lush World Heritage rainforest and to spot some of the famous Australian wildlife this region is famous for. The Sapphire Nature Tours' guide will find you those special places where the wildlife hangs out. We will visit many bird and wildlife sites in Cairns, Atherton Tablelands and Etty Bay.
The butterflies are divine, the enormous trees are impressive, the ancient landscapes are beguiling, the water holes are entrancing so what's not to like!
We also offer stops at some of the more interesting cafes to try some of their bespoke local dishes.

Accommodation is in a very comfortable and clean apartment, cabin or lodge with private bathroom attached to your accommodation. (You will be required to share a accommodation if you are on your own for most nights. There is a single supplement charge if you prefer to be on your own.)
TOUR ITINERARY
2 nights in Cairns - discover the many waders and tropical birds on the mudflats and along the esplanade. Visit the Botanic Gardens, Cattana Wetlands and other bird locations around Cairns. Take a Daintree River boat trip to look for crocs and the local butterflies, frogs and bird life.
2 nights near Lake Eacham - stay in the jungle and get close to the tropical wildlife. Walk around pristine Lake Eacham crater and see plenty of wildlife, visit the Strangler Fig, the giant Kauri Pines and Malanda to look for tree kangaroos. Also discover the Hasties Swamp birds and Yungaburra where the platypus and tree kangaroos hang out.
1 night at Etty Bay to look for Cassowaries. Also visit Mission Beach for more bird sightings and great cafés.
