Sam has been a passionate nature-lover all her life and is an avid bushwalker and outdoor enthusiast. Immersing herself in nature has been her favourite past-time since she was a child. Studying butterflies and spiders was a ‘thing’ when she was young but now she is just happy to wander along any forest track looking for birds, native animals and anything else that happens to come along. Nature photography has been a part of her journey and she has gained many international awards for her nature photography. 

 

Sam has many years' experience as a guide for National Parks of New South Wales, for the Sapphire coast Marine Society, as an out door education instructor for Meebunn-Bia and for this business, Sapphire Nature Tours. With her enthusiasm and love of nature you will find no better guide in the region. She has an admirable in-depth knowledge of the local birds, native animals, marine life and the plants.

Our team is committed to reducing negative effects and making a positive impact on the environment and community. At all times we will respect the environment we are in and respect the animals we encounter.

We will do this by:

• Asking our clients to maintain a respectful distance between them and the animals they are viewing

• Showing why the local native vegetation is essential to having healthy populations of wildlife

• Have a policy of take only photographs and leave only footprints

• Composting our waste

• Buying food at the local cafés

• Working with local Traditional Owners to improve our understanding of First Nations cultures

• Minimising our use of energy

• Minimising our use of plastic water bottles by offering tap water and reusable cups

• Regularly reviewing and updating our sustainability action plan and assessing our risks and performance each year
